2015 - Summer 2018

Dandi is a video social media app designed to inspire grassroots community engagement, at the intersection of philanthropy, youth engagement, and AI.

Youth already know how to use social media – what if we could utilize those existing social patterns to incentivize them to care about their communities?

Top down philanthropy and humanitarian aid is paternalistic and often doesn’t reflect on-the-ground needs. We believed that the best way to understand what people need is to ask them directly so we created an app to do that. Organizations create challenges around various social issues – the environment, education, health, etc. Youth share their solutions through video, the community decides which solution they believe in, and we connect youth with local organizations to provide resources (grants, workshops, prizes etc) to make those solutions a reality.
